Build resiliently.
KMCG began with the idea of building better.
Building is never just about buildings. The spaces we build shape who we are. Our buildings showcase our fundamental values and help shape how we think, how we live and how we feel. KMCG was founded on the premise that all projects should be resilient.
We believe that every project is an opportunity to create sustainable, productive, vibrant and healthy spaces. We believe that good projects can hold neighborhoods together, encourage economic vitality, promote social equity, and build community resilience. Most of all, we believe in the power of people and that, together, we can all build resiliently.
Building upon a successful career as a mechanical engineer, Kara founded KMCG to bridge the gap between developers and high performance building projects, making “sustainable” attainable. With today’s rapidly evolving regulatory and construction financing fields, KMCG is working to accelerate the transition to a clean energy future.
Kara is a Certified Passive House Designer and holds expertise in the green building sector. A lawyer and mechanical engineer by training, she started her career in nuclear energy, analyzing thermal-hydraulic systems for naval nuclear reactors. She then transitioned to nonprofit work, where she focused on green building education, and eventually returned back to engineering, ultimately designing high-performance building systems herself. She has a wealth of experience in construction project management, building systems engineering (MEP/FP), energy modeling, and building rating systems (Passive House, LEED, Living Building Challenge, etc.). Her passion for socially-responsible, sustainable development compelled her to pursue a JD with a focus on energy law and public policy.
